Anyone who’s bought Final Fantasy XIII whether you beat the game or not, must have heard of it’s Japanese ending, Kimi ga Iru Kara! (I’m just going to say it right here and now that the English song for the game wasn’t that bad) Anyways, the song – which is a ballad – does seem to sound a bit generic at first but once you get around a minute through the song, intensity begins to build up and Sayuri’s groundbreaking vocals begins to sing with a strong force behind it. Sure it’s has a whopping total of six minutes in length, the song was able to “move” me in a way because the mood really suited the ending of the game. (Like “Kiss me Goodbye” from FFXII) If I were to rank the FF songs, I would say that this is probably the best but it took much longer for the song to grow on me compared to Kiss me Goodbye.

Eternal Love also happens to be an insert song from the same game. (Yay!) Compared to the ballad ending song, this is more of a laid back pop. There are times when Sayuri sings well with high pitched vocals and the melody is rather refreshing. The flow of the vocals and the arrangement also made the song easy to listen to. Man, I really liked this song. Too bad it was totally shortened during the Japanese game. (And was completely substituted by a vocal version of Serah’s theme!)

Christmas again turns out to sound a bit generic in terms of the acoustic guitar arrangement. Although the song doesn’t really sound all that “interesting,” I think that Sayuri’s strong vocals make up for it. It’s one of the weaker points of the single but it’s still worth the listen.
