1. MAKE UP
MAKE UP sounds pretty aggressive for a pop song. Another thing to point out is that the instrumentation sounds pretty cool. It gives out a new, fresh side of Kana Nishino’s vocals! It has its own way of being a song but I didn’t really find this above average despite the cool instrumentation.
When I first listened to Kirari I was like OMG! Kana’s struggling!? Apparently, she does seem to have a hard time singing at the right pitch throughout the song and her vocals lacked the emphasis that it needed. This is definitely B-side material but there is definitely work to do on those vocals!
Sherie sounds cute at first but when I listen to it a few more times, I could definitely see how there isn’t really anything striking about it. I’ll give the chorus credit for still being cute though.
Finally, MAKE is like a remade version of the A-side MAKE UP. I don’t really hear much of a difference except for the fact that the introduction sounded quite different. But even though, this is just as good as the original!
The A-sides were definitely the good pointers of this single! The pitfall here were probably the bland B-sides. otherwise, I still have to catch up with her releases!
