The first thing that comes to mind upon uploading the album cover for affection was oooooh! Shiny!

TAKE BACK, Your Song, Trust Your Love, COLOR OF SOUL and So Into You were all (and I mean ALL) give extremely low ratings…can’t stress that enough.

atomic energy, feel me, and My Dream were just like the pre-released songs: awkward instrumentals, random sound effects and weak vocals. But I’m proud to say that Kuu actually kept the poor quality songs to a minimal; there’s actually a ton of awesome music in the majority of the album!

Go Together, Till’ Morning Comes feat VERBAL, and Can’t Lose were mid-paced songs that were getting there, but just didn’t reach me. At least all three songs had feelings of R&B and great rhythm, Just to keep in mind that VERBAL is in the popular m-flo remixing group.

OMG! Best Friend Of Mine, come back and walk were like Kuu’s first BEST songs she’s ever sang! With Best Friend Of Mine being an awesome interlude track loaded with Acappella ad-libs, come back and walk were extremely powerful ballads that may have even bested the ballads in her later releases! I just love the tension during both ballads’ development into the chorus!

Personal Rating: 3.5/5

  1. Since this is the first album of Kuu, I can see that a great singer is born right here. Seven songs form this album, five songs in blue plus “come back” and “walk”, were selected into her best albums later. This shows that there are a lot of good songs in this album.
Just like what you have reviewed, some of them are not very good in quality. Since there are 14 songs here, the album (for me) has 7 great songs and 7 not so great songs.

  2. Sorry, I made a lot of mistakes on the comment I made last time. This album is actually very good. I bought an Energy brand 5.1 speaker system two weeks ago. I used to listen to my music through my PC speakers. That made R&B music sound bad. Now after I put this CD on my new speaker system, all the songs sound great.
I found out that 5.1 surround sound is much better than the 2.1 stereo sound. The listening experience is totally different. Because on the 5.1 surround system, the center channel speaker carry 60% of the music. The rest four speakers have very little sound comming out of them. For a 2.1 stereo system, I have to sit in the middle of the two speakers for a better sound. For a 5.1 system, I can move around more freely.
After listening to this CD on my new system, I would definitely give this album a personal Rating of 5/5.
I also found out that Koda Kumi’s next album “Grow Into One” is even better than this one.
I would like to urge everybody to use a good 5.1 speaker system to listem to Koda Kumi’s music. Because time is precious, life is short, and Koda kumi’s voice is the fantastic.
